This is a year of Perfecting our Recipe for Success for the Honey Bees! The NEW Highland Heights is buzzing towards EXEMPLARY.
Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great Winter Break. We are ready to start the New Year off with a bang as we continue to Perfect our Recipe for Success! Please be sure to help teach your child how to set goals and work towards them by determining a reasonable New Year's Resolution. This is a great opportunity to help your child understand the importance of determination and persistence...they should be persistent as they work towards accomplishing whatever they want in life and be determined not to allow anything to stand in their way.
As we start the new year, I would like to remind you that TESTING SEASON is here. Please see the attached calendar for January. Students in K-5 will take Stanford 10. Students in K-2 will also take the Middle of the Year TPRI. If you would like a better understanding of what your child will be tested on, please visit the following link: HISD Test Descriptions.
It is important that your child attends school every day, but it is especially important that you get them to school on time to take their test. We test in the mornings, so if your child needs to attend an appointment, please schedule it in the afternoon. Your cooperation is appreciated as we work to have a smooth TESTING SEASON. Again, if you have any questions or concerns, please see your child's teacher for assistance.
As promised, I mentioned in my previous message that I will keep you posted about the consolidation of Hohl and Highland Heights Elementary School. I have met with the Hohl principal, Ms. Simpson, and our Executive Principal, Dr. Berry, is working with us to ensure a smooth transition. It is very important to everyone that this process is successful, so Consolidation H3(Hohl and Highland Heights) is underway. I will keep you informed as we receive more information. We are hoping to meet with all of the departments that will be involved in the consolidation, however, as of now, we are planning a few activities that will help the Hohl parents understand Highland Heights a little better. Please watch the calendar to see when these activities will take place. We will solicit your assistance, so, please spread the word...The NEW Highland Heights is going to get BETTER as we work to make this the best transition for our children. If you would like to help, please feel free to join us as we prepare to make this a successful consolidation.
